RESULTS & AWARDS of the VARIOUS ACTIVITIES

(Click on pictures for a larger image)

A SPECIAL thanks to the new Canada Day Convener JIM READY and his committee that prepared all year for this event which again was fantastic.  JIM, great job and thank you for helping make residents and families feel great about our community and the best country in the world.

The 2016 Canada Day committee, after much consideration, has decided to donate some funds to 2 local charities from proceeds generated from the full day of Canada Day celebrations, Saturday, July 1st, 2016.   Although it was not possible, because of the rainy day, to do all the planned outdoor activities, the Canada Day parade itself and the Canada Day dance later that evening were a success.

Because the committee agreed these are well known and respected local charities, the donations were $250.00 to Hospice Simcoe and $250.00 to Million Dollar Smiles.

Also, most sincere thanks to everyone for a successful day - except the rain......

A message from JIM READY, Canada Day Committee Chair.   In spite of the rain on Canada Day, I'm so pleased to say the Canada Day parade was fortunately able to proceed as planned.... I can't tell you how it was such a relief to me personally to see the last entry disappear out of sight going south around The Hub on Weeping Willow Drive while I stood there at the gathering point getting wetter by the moment.... I even considered delaying the start for a time.... it was yes or no for quite a while but it didn't seem that the rain was going to stop.... but now it's over and done and I'm happy....

I wish to thank all the SCA clubs and all the SCA residents who were able to participate in this year's Canada Day parade.... also to all those, like the Art Club and Photography Club who couldn't attend, and both The Spoke and The Hub who tried very hard to complete the activities they wanted to do but couldn't, all because of the weather.... THANKS TO ALL....

For the parade itself, I do have the results of the awards as judged by our three (3) Canada Day parade judges, Carolyn Bennett from The Spoke, Diane Elliott from The Hub, and Joe Libralesso from The Wheel, all of whom also stood in the rain and I can't thank enough.... (the results are in the following)

I also wish to thank all the many volunteers who helped, in so many different ways, our Canada Day Committee, both during the day and at the Canada Day dance later that evening.... I need to say - WE COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU!

In addition the The Spoke, The Hub and The Wheel who were most helpful, I must also say thanks for how our committee received so much support from the Town of Innisfil, Parkbridge, Old Firehouse Catering, the UNDERCOVER band, and our many local business sponsors.... OUR SINCEREST THANKS!

I apologize if I've missed anyone who should also be acknowledged and thanked....

Again, many thanks,

Jim Ready - Convener, Canada Day Committee
